Introduction to GoalPost
Summary
GoalPost is an open-source, digital tool designed to help communities foster mutual care, resource-sharing, and collaborative decision-making. Rooted in deep relationships centered in reciprocity, GoalPost offers a secure knowledge vault for individuals and communities to align their goals and resources. It supports thoughtful sharing within trusted circles and scales outward to broader networks of care with complete privacy and consent.
Welcome and Vision
Welcome, I’m Jennifer Damashek. Today I’m introducing you to the current version of GoalPost — a platform designed to support mutual care and collective stewardship. GoalPost helps communities align values, goals, and resources, nurturing trust-based relationships and evolving networks of care.
A Shared Knowledge Vault
At its core, GoalPost is a shared knowledge vault. It’s a place where you can store, organize, and intentionally share knowledge and resources with trusted circles. As relationships deepen, communities can extend this sharing to broader networks while maintaining control and privacy.
Mapping What Matters Most
GoalPost enables communities to articulate their goals, share resources, and create care points, which are moments where goals and resources meet. This dynamic process strengthens relationships and collective capacities.
Current Prototype Demonstration
The prototype I’m showing today includes:
- Home dashboard with community, people, goals, resources, and care points.
- Ability to add and manage communities, people, goals, resources, and care points.
- A feed of updates showing activity and collaboration.
- Visual graph navigation to explore relationships between goals, resources, people, and values.
- Manual input forms.
Care Points Explained
Care points are where resources and goals come together in practice. These points are tracked and recorded, allowing communities to reflect on how well support is flowing.
Future Vision
Our vision for the future includes:
- AI-assisted matching of goals and resources.
- Seamless interoperability with other open-source tools.
- Multi-layered privacy controls and decentralized security protocols.
- Supporting communities of care with generative learning and relational accountability.
